Preventive Tip

Downloading programs to your computer can be very harmful if you download the wrong things. Be sure that you know what you are downloading before you save it to your hard drive and run the program. Many companies will tell you that you should have their software and not to download anything else but that, but what they are really doing is giving you more problems than you had to begin with. Just make sure you are 100% sure of what you are getting before you download it.

Troubleshooting Tip

If you are experiencing troubles with your DSL connection the first thing to try is to Power Cycle your DSL Modem. Power Cycle is a fancy term for turning the electrical power off to a device and then turning it back on. Some DSL Modems have switches on them that allow you to turn them on and off without unplugging the Power Adaptor. After your DSL Modem synchronizes and you are still experiencing troubles you may want to restart your computer. This can occasionally save you time and stress from having to wait for a customer service representative from your Internet Service Provider.
